This Town (c) 2004
"THIS TOWN"
V1
There used to be a diner on the corner
of Central and Main.
We used to hear the whistle of an outbound train.
We used to pass the barber shop on the way to school
We used to swim down by the river
in a deep cold pool.
Chorus:
This town
Has grown as the years passed by.
This town was the place where
I learned to spread my wings and fly.
This town was where I first met you.
This town is where my heart will
always hold true in
This town
V2
Time passed people moved away.
The farms replaced by buildings
Factories replaced the bails of Hay.
Horses no longer line the roads,
only suburban houses where children play..
cars whizzing by with drivers on cell-phones
One thing has become clear day by day.
Times used to be so much more simple,
than they are today.
Chorus:
This town
Has grown as the years passed by.
This town was the place where I learned
to spread my wings and fly
This town was where I first met you
This town is where my heart will always
hold true in
This town.
V3
The old storefronts have been remodeled
Some have vanished, been torn down.
The people we used to see walking the streets
Never come around.
While they moved on to distant places
to explore new worlds , meet different faces,
We stayed here in our hometown
and I shared my love with you.
Yes no matter what our friends say
I know we'll never move.
Bridge:
Now our town's become a city.
It even changed its name.
The only time the people meet,
is at the big high school football game,
We've grown up in this same place,
and watched it slowly change.
We stayed here in our hometown
and I shared my love with you.
Yes no matter what our friends say
I know we'll never move.
